SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Several lanes of the 105 Freeway near Vermont Avenue in South Los Angeles are blocked while the California Highway Patrol investigates "possible freeway violence" after a person was found shot.
That person was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to the agency.
CHP says officers responded at about 1:45 p.m. Thursday to the eastbound 105 Freeway, near Vermont Avenue, to reports of a black Toyota Camry blocking the HOV lane and found a man slumped over the wheel with a gunshot wound.
The vehicle's rear window appeared to be shattered, according to images from AIR7.
CHP officials said the case was being investigated as possible highway violence.
The three far-left lanes of the eastbound 105 Freeway were closed just west of Vermont Avenue while authorities conducted an investigation. The closure caused a backup of traffic stretching west to the 405 Freeway.
CHP Detectives are still searching for the suspect and suspect vehicle. There was no description of the suspect or that person's car.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Los Angeles Communications Center at (323) 259-3200 or CHP Detective Chambers at (323) 644-9550 during business hours.
