John Gregory
John Gregory co-anchors ABC7 Eyewitness News from 4am-7am weekdays.

John joined the station in 2000. Originally from New York, John's family moved to San Diego when he was a teenager. He says that he quickly fell in love with Southern California and has made it a point to try and stay close to home throughout his career. He graduated from San Diego State University with a political science degree.

John landed his first job at KYMA in Yuma, Arizona, where he learned to anchor, produce, shoot and edit his own stories. His next stop was KTNV in Las Vegas, Nevada as a weekend anchor and reporter. John then went back to San Diego for seven years as a reporter at KNSD before joining ABC7.

John covered the 2000 Democratic National Convention for ABC7 Eyewitness News. During the controversial election that followed, he reported live from Washington, D.C. as the court cases generated by the election results were heard by the Supreme Court.

After the September 11 terrorist attacks, John joined the California National Guard troops as they traveled to the Middle East on a mission to guard and protect U.S. military installations.

He was awarded an Emmy in 1995 for his coverage of the Tank Rampage in San Diego and in 1996 for the Harmony Grove Wildfires in San Diego.
